Types of Campus Jobs
Part-Time (non-work study): On-campus, part-time jobs can be temporary or long-term employment opportunities working for a department in a variety of roles such as customer service, retail, sales, office support and more. Work Study: Federal Work Study (FWS) is designed to give part-time employment to undergraduate and graduate students who need the income to help meet the costs of their education. MU Student Financial Aid determines eligibility and allocates Work Study funds to students. The MU Career Center helps students find and apply for Work Study positions.
Internships: Internships are a form of experiential learning that integrate knowledge and theory learned in the classroom with practical application and skills development in a professional setting.
Campus internships can be paid or taken for academic credit. As an intern you gain valuable hands-on experience, make connections with professionals, explore career paths, and assess your career goals. Prepare for Employment
Employment Identification Documents: Students must present Employment Eligibility & Identification documents in order to be hired at the University. Only original documents will be accepted, so it’s important to have your identification ready.
Direct Deposit: The University requires employees to directly deposit payroll funds to a bank. Please have your routing and account numbers ready to share.
Starting Your Job
If you receive an offer of employment, please make sure that you have all the necessary information before accepting the job, such as hourly wage, work schedule, start date and other details. Once you accept the offer you’ll need to follow these steps:
Access and Complete your New Hire Forms: To complete these forms please review the instructions in your new employee information email from Human Resource Services with the subject line: University of Missouri New Employee Information.
- If you do not receive an email, please check your junk folder and try logging in to https://myhr.umsystem.edu.
- If you do not receive an email and cannot login after three days of being hired, please contact the person who hired you for assistance.
Direct Deposit: Your paycheck will be directly deposited into the bank account of your choice. Please have your routing and account numbers ready to share.
Complete W-4 form: All MU employees must complete federal and state tax information. If you are unsure how to complete the W-4, please make an appointment with the Office for Financial Success.
Attend New Employee Registration: All student employees must present their original, unexpired Employment Eligibility & Identification documents to New Employee Registration by their first day of work.
